Welcome to the Halpert Group in the Department of Chemistry at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Our group moved to
HKUST in July of 2017 and we have built a new laboratory focused on nanomaterials synthesis and optoelectronic devices.

Halpert Group

The central campus at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)

We are working on semiconductor nanocrystals, quantum dots, perovskites and nanomaterials; synthesis of novel nanomaterials; characterization, spectroscopy, charge transport, and excitonic and excited state properties of nanocrystals; optoelectronic devices using nanomaterials including solar cells, light emitting devices (LEDs), photodetectors, transistors, and solid state memory devices; redox and light activated devices and materials.
In addition to our state of the art quantum dot fabrication facilities, we also have a high end clean room for device fabrication and testing facilities for LEDs, solar cells, photodetectors and other electronic devices. In addition we collaborate with groups throughout HKUST and internationally in order to perform spectroscopic measurements and theoretical modeling of our materials.

Our group is currently looking for new members, with details listed in the "Hiring" section of this page.
